David Sakrison has been a professional writer and editor for more than 30 years, working for businesses, associations, health care, non-profits, museums, political campaigns, and the press. A licensed Private Pilot, he is a former editor of Cessna Owner Magazine and Pipers Magazine, and was the series editor for four comprehensive reference books on Cessna and Piper aircraft. He has researched and written the text for many temporary and permanent exhibits at the Experimental Aircraft Association's (EAA's) AirVenture Museum in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and for EAA publications, including Sport Aviation magazine, EAA AeroCrafter, and Vintage Airplane magazine. He is the Governmental Affairs Reporter for AirVenture Today, the EAA newspaper published during the annual Oshkosh AirVenture fly-in and convention. He has won awards and professional recognition for his work as a freelance commercial copywriter. He serves a wide variety of clients in healthcare, medical technology, manufacturing, finance, and business-to-business. He has taught college courses in Technical Writing and workshops on business writing, marketing, and crisis communications. Using horse training and horse behavior as a metaphor for human communications, he has led corporate retreats on salesmanship and leadership. On assignment, he has delved into complex social and legislative issues, joined forest fire fighters in British Columbia, ridden with the "Iditarod Air Force" at Alaska's Iditarod Sled Dog Race, tracked cougars in the Florida Everglades, and wrestled a Bengal tiger. Chasing the Ghost Birds is his second book. He previously co-authored, with Harry Heileman, A Portrait of Ripon: the first 100 years in photographs, published in 2000. In his spare time, he enjoys photography, reading, building scale models, bicycling, flying, travel, and good conversation. He lives in Ripon, Wisconsin with his wife, Christal, their daughters, Ingrid and Robin, and two cats. |
